Discord attachment size, and why two help pages disagree
Checked 2026-10-22. Discord did not make this page. A file under the number below can still be refused. Nitro status is yours to know; this site cannot see your account.
| Source | What it said |
|---|---|
| File Attachments FAQ | Non-Nitro maximum described as 20 MB, up from 10 MB as of August 2026. The article says limits are being experimented with. One answer says Nitro allows up to 1 GB. |
| Account caps table | Base file sharing 10 MB, Nitro Basic 50 MB, Nitro 500 MB. |
What to do with the conflict
If you are not on Nitro, 20 MB matches the newer FAQ and 10 MB matches the caps table. Pick the lower number when the upload matters. The tool can start at 20 MB. It will not tell you the file was accepted.
Length
20 MB is about 2,300 kbps of video for a one-minute clip after audio and slack, and about 180 kbps for ten minutes. The short clip can keep a large frame. The long one needs a cut or a small frame. The tool prints the bitrate for the file you chose.
