WhatsApp video size: consumer help and the business API
Checked 2026-10-22. WhatsApp did not make this page.
Consumer help
How to send media says a faster connection defaults to 100 MB and 720p, and a slower connection to 64 MB and 480p. Documents are listed up to 2 GB. The page is about the consumer app, not a promise that every chat uses those defaults.
Business API
The Cloud API video table lists MP4 and 3GP at 16 MB. That is a business-API limit, not the consumer help text. If you are sending through that API, 16 MB is the number to type. The preset on the tool is 64 MB, for the slower consumer default, because that is the tighter of the two consumer figures.
For the API ceiling, open the tool and type 16.
